Education and training on dementia and related topics. This includes workshops, online courses, live webinars, and formal training certification programs for persons with dementia, their caregivers and health care professionals.

Workshops for Persons with Dementia and their Family Members:

Educational workshops are offered for people in the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease as well as their family members.

Creative Therapy Workshops are offered to people in the early stage of AD & their family members – visits to the AGO, afternoons at the Toronto Symphony, as well as sessions in : Nia, Yoga, Drumming, Dance & Movement .
Family Workshops:

Designed for family members to increase their understanding of dementia. Workshops are offered throughout the year on topics such as: the early, middle and late stages of the disease, caregiver stress, coping strategies, immediate and future care, Advance Care Planning.

Training for Professionals:

Our Public Education Coordinators offer training programs for organizations and formal caregivers of persons with dementia who work in a variety of settings including long term care homes, retirement homes, supportive housing, community agencies and private homes.

Dementia Certification Training Program:

Includes training on U-First! Program, is available for Healthcare Providers (PSWs and other frontline workers), Social Workers, and Nurses.

Available as a 12 hour in-person program (DCTP) or 6 week online program (ODCTP).

Forums:

Educational forums, symposia, research nights are held throughout the year. The Andreae Alzheimer Lecture is held annually in conjunction with our Annual General Meeting.

Public Awareness:

We offer free information sessions, live webinars, education seminars and displays for community groups and agencies, businesses, places of worship and the general public.
