Elder abuse includes any act of commission or omission that results in harm to an elderly person. Programs and services are aimed at preventing, identifying, investigating and/or mitigating the effects of elder abuse. Programs are specific to each organization. Elder Abuse Services
Free. Individuals staying at Pat’s Place are asked to contribute to the day-to-day costs (food, clothing, medications, laundry etc).
Pat’s Place: this apartment provides a short-term (up to 60 days) safe haven for older people (60+) who are living in an abusive relationship (including emotional, physical, sexual, financial abuse or neglect)
Open to women, men and transgendered persons who are capable of looking after themselves.
Not suitable for individuals with mobility issues.
Elder Abuse Consultation Team (EACT): responds to complex elder abuse cases by working with community agencies in an advisory capacity to provide respectful options that can improve the situation of older adults and allow them the right to live in a safe environment.
The Team accepts cases from community and hospital based agencies. Call Lisa Manuel, EACT Coordinator, at 416-755-5565 ext. 422 for information on how to get cases presented to the Team.

Gaining Strength, Sharing Stories: Group for Women 50+: program for those living with abuse, to learn how the cycle works and how to loosen its grip.
