Regular visits from a trained volunteer to a senior in their home, hospital or long-term care home to provide companionship and social support. May include shopping or taking a senior out for daily living activities.

Seniors who are Bernard Betel Centre members Older person living alone, feeling isolated or home bound.
Catchment Area:
North York: Dufferin to Don Mills, Steeles to Lawrence, plus parts of Thornhill, (Clark Ave. to the north) and Wilson Ave. to the south, southern part of Richmond Hill.

Service Limitation:
Program helps to create social contact and support while providing valuable companionship and reassurance. Trained volunteer will visit in home on weekly basis. 2 to 3 hours per visit. No nursing care or personal care provided. Coordinator of Community Support Services will visit family in home for assessment prior to matching with volunteer, and will accompany volunteer on first visit.
