The goal of these programs is to offer individualized meaningful activities to persons with dementia. May include: Activation programming; Recreational therapy; Cognitive stimulation therapy.

Population Served:

People with barriers to productive, satisfying lives, including dementia, stroke, diabetes, mental illness including depression an anxiety, physical disability, bereavement, social isolation and lack of access to community resources.

GTA, Peel, Halton, Hamilton, Niagara, Simcoe, Kitchener/ Waterloo, North Bay, Subury, Algoma

Cost:

$35.00 per hour. HST not included.
VAC Health Identification cards accepted.
Tax deductible as a medical expenses
Minimum of 2 hours per session.

Service Limitation:

One to one therapeutic recreation in-home respite care, caregivers are free to leave during session time, same therapist comes every time. Our service gives completely individualized attention, is goal oriented and outcomes based, and provides clinical documentation. Therapeutic recreation works to improve the sense of independence, choice and control among people with all forms of dementia. Based on a detailed assessment, our programs are delivered in the home, where they will be specifically tailored to individual needs, interests and abilities. Our staff can also research and accompany participants to appropriate community programs to maximize benefits. Our main goal is to improve the quality of life for both the person with dementia, as well as their family.

Caregiver Training we will design custom therapeutic programs tailored to the unique needs of the person with dementia and their caregiver, and train the caregiver how to do them. Ongoing support and additional training available whenever needed.

Therapy-in-a-box Therapeutic activity programs specifically designed for individual strengths, interests and challenges. We provide the activity outline, goals, and measurements for success. Materials and storage containers for each activity are purchased, labeled and ready to use. Training with caregiver on each activity, how to customize to changing abilities & maximize benefit any given day. This is like having a fully equipped day program in the home that can be run by the caregiver. Ongoing support and additional training available whenever needed.
