Learn about Dementia and Dementia Care
Increase your knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia by learning in an environment best suited for your needs.

Online or in-person, the Alzheimer Society of Toronto is proud to offer a variety of training and education opportunities to people living with dementia, their health care providers, care partners, family, and friends.

Free Online Courses: Take one of our FREE online Dementia 100 series mini-courses to further educate yourself about dementia. Visit www.ALZeducate.ca to find a course that interests you!

Free Dementia Workshops: Increase your knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia by registering for one of our free dementia workshops. Our workshops are led by our social workers and education coordinators and are held on a regular basis.

Free Live Interactive Webinars: Participate in a live interactive presentation to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Topics include Brain Health, Understanding Behaviours, Caregiver Stress, and Adjusting to Long Term Care.

For Health Care Professionals

Dementia Foundations: This 3-hour course will provide you with a foundation of dementia, enabling you enhance your knowledge to provide quality care for persons with dementia.
U-First® Suite of Dementia Certificate Program: If you are a health care professional, take our comprehensive U-First!® suite of Dementia Certificate Programs to increase your skill and confidence in providing the most effective and up-to-date care for people living with dementia.

Palliative Care in Dementia Program: This training program is aimed at enhancing the knowledge of frontline staff frontline staff in caring for people with dementia using a palliative care approach. Participants will explore their own beliefs around dying and how it impacts care as well as examine what a palliative care approach means through a dementia lens.

Gentle Persuasive Approaches: Designed for front-line healthcare staff, gain a better understanding of individual behaviours to respond effectively and appropriately in a workplace setting. Learn suitable and respectful protective techniques to use in situations of risk.

Knowledge 2 Action (K2A) – Supporting Responsive Behaviours in Dementia Care: This workshop offers the participants an opportunity to build on and practice skills gained from dementia training programs (such as U-First!®).
